Description
Khardung la Pass in India is a Himalayan mountain Pass, on the Ladakh Range, north of Leh and forms the gateway to Nubra Valley. It is situated at an elevation of about 17500 feet above sea level and is one of the world’s highest motorable roads. We were on a road trip in July this year and stopping at Khardung la Pass was a fascinating experience. On account of the high altitude and consequent low oxygen, I was out of the car only for about fifteen minutes or so, even though it was a lovely, sunny day. Apart from absorbing the beauty of the magnificent mountains all around, I managed to take a few photographs to be used as reference for paintings later on.
The huge white clouds were moving constantly and sometimes they cast a shadow on the mountains before moving on. The snow had formed patterns on the mountain, revealing its beauty.
