The Art Society of India had organized a plein air painting tour at Devrukh, Sangameshwar and Ratnagiri – all on the Western Ghats of India. A few artists including me, participated in this tour.
Devrukh in the Konkan region is a quiet town with lush greenery, clean air and cool, pleasant mornings and evenings in February.
“A Road to Nowhere” is the painting of a winding road in Devrukh…..the kind of road where its destination does not seem important.
It has been painted on location, using Acrylic with palette knife on Canson heavy weight paper.
The urge to sketch, draw and paint has been there since childhood and I loved every minute of the time spent on drawing and painting. But, to take up painting as a full time career, was considered nothing short of fiddling on the roof. And maybe, in some sense it is true, particularly when there are practicalities of life to deal with. After two decades of a "real" job as a banker, I decided to quit banking and follow my heart, finally. This time I studied art from the Israeli artist Hagit Shahal, for four years, while I was living in Israel. I have not looked back since. Now I paint full time and I currently live in Mumbai, India.
