Description
Ellora caves in Aurangabad, India, represent the epitome of India's rock-cut architecture. There are 34 caves which have essentially been excavated from the hills. They were built between 6th to 9th century AD. The first 12 caves are Buddhist temples, 13th to 29th caves are Hindu temples and 30th to 34th caves represent Jain temples.
Ellora is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
This is one of the sculptures at Ellora caves, which has been carved out of basalt rock.
Some of the beautiful sculptures are damaged or in a state of ruin now.
